This is a question that is often asked in design consultation.
Here is a quick guide to help you pick right. We aim for clothes to be the fulfillment of the image, we want you to be seen as the first, all focus needs to go to your face rather than your clothes. So avoid logos, numbers, cartoon characters, busy patterns, and bright colors of clothes.
Nail polish is also important: avoid bright colors, red and black; pastel, natural colors or a classic French manicure will be a lovely addition to your look.
Below you find some samples. You are welcome to bring a set of clothes for change, as well as extra accessories so we can mix them to give you more variety.
DO-Start with you, mama. Wear what you feel most comfortable in. If you're not a dress fan, pick outfits and colors you feel beautiful in and work around those color schemes.
DO- Choose a color scheme based on where you’d like to hang these pictures.  Example: If you’re planning on a living room wall display and your living room is decorated in earth tones, choose colors that will coordinate.
DON’T- Match. We are aiming for a coordinating pallet not the same, matching outfits. Leave the jeans and white T-shirts at home and instead choose a color scheme and coordinate.
DO- Layer.  The more layers the better.  Sweaters, scarves, and jewelry create visual interest and add texture throughout your pictures.
DON’T- Be afraid of patterns.  Plaids, polkadot, florals, and stripes can be overwhelming when all paired together but mixing in a few patterns here and there are another great way to add some interest to your images.

DO- Pay attention to your shoes.  Shoes matter!  A pair of nike sneakers mixed in with cute boots and dress shoes can be an eyesore in your photos. Try to stick with neutral shoes for the whole family.
DON’T- Wear logos. As much as shoes can be an eyesore so can a big logo across a t-shirt.  Try to steer clear of sports or brand logos or sayings across the front of your shirt.  Again, this takes the attention away from the family and brings the eye right to the t-shirt.
A few more ideas below.

Fall family outfit ideas: Everyone loves those fall colors, but the window for autumn leaves is quite small and incredibly hard to predict. So whether you have color in your background or fall colors in your clothes – I've got four fun autumn outfit options for you!
Knit Neutrals
If the leaves have turned, neutrals are a fantastic option and allow you to really shine! I absolutely love this soft, muted pallet of cream, grey, and navy! The knit fabrics are perfect for the cooler fall weather and add an awesome texture to your images too! So if you want the focus on you – this neutral knit option may be perfect for you!
Denim and Cream
This is a dressier spin on the previous neutral option. Obviously, we’ve got mom and daughter in skirts. Dad and son are wearing matched checkered shirts. And having mom’s denim on top and daughter’s denim on bottom creates a beautiful way for the viewers eye to move around your images.
Vibrant Fall Tones
So now for some more vibrant tones! Reds, yellows, and oranges are trademark colors of fall. And this look really let’s you be the punch of color in your portraits! You can see mom and daughter share the yellow tones and the boys share the red colors. And the little accessories help tie everyone together.
Pumpkin Spice
Last but not least, we had to do some pumpkin spice inspired options! Here we have denim, orange and red, which creates that perfect pumpkin pie feel. I love putting the little girls in a cute patterned dress and tying dad in with the orange bow tie. Little accessories are the great way to bring everyone’s outfits together!
